Mark Wahlberg headlines a reboot of a detective series nominally set in Boston that really, REALLY wants to remind you that Mark is also from there: Within the first 5 minutes he’s had a wistful conversation about Fenway Park, a flashback to a loud angry classy-but-not blonde yelling at him while hurling his belongings off the top deck of a 3 story tenement house and gotten into a fistfight set to a song by “Boston” – the band. Fight scene #2 will take place in a “cop bar” and be set to ‘Sweet Caroline,’ and if I told you that two separate not very far apart scenes involve visiting two different MMA gyms as background for expository conversations or that Wahlberg’s love-interest shouts “GO SOX!” during sexual climax would you doubt me? Because that’s all stuff that happens.
